RAKU extends condolences to Tooro Kingdom on the passing of King Oyo

The Union stands with the Royal Family and the people of Tooro in remembrance of their late monarch.
The Royal African Kingdoms Union extends its deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the leadership of Tooro Kingdom, and the people of Uganda following the passing of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
King Oyo’s passing in August 2026 brought to a close a reign of more than three decades. Uganda’s State House has paid tribute to his service to Tooro and Uganda, including his advocacy on HIV and AIDS. His life remains part of the enduring story of Africa’s royal institutions and the communities they serve.
RAKU joins in honoring his memory and offers its sympathy to all who mourn him. The loss of a monarch is deeply felt across a royal family and throughout a kingdom, touching generations connected by shared history, customs, and belonging.
At this time of remembrance, the Union reaffirms the importance of solidarity among African kingdoms. We stand with the people of Tooro as they preserve their heritage and carry forward the legacy of their late King.
May His Majesty rest in peace, and may his family and people find comfort, strength, and unity.
