The Royal African Kingdoms Union

Rooted in heritage.
United in purpose.

RAKU’s vision is a union of African kingdoms and royal institutions working together across borders and generations. Our purpose is to preserve Africa’s royal heritage while connecting leadership with the practical needs of communities.

Through dialogue, mediation, shared expertise, and coordinated development, the Union seeks to turn royal solidarity into opportunities for education, enterprise, cultural preservation, and sustainable growth.

Our constitutional framework places African Kings and Queens at the center of representation, under the supreme institutional leadership of the King President.

Developing the RAKU Diplomatic Passport Initiative

A vision for royal representation, connection, and cooperation.

The Royal African Kingdoms Union is working to develop a proposed diplomatic passport initiative to support the official representation of participating kingdoms and strengthen engagement across Africa and the global diaspora.

Our development priorities include a distinctive royal design, secure identity verification, clear eligibility standards, and a responsible framework for issuance and administration. The initiative also seeks to establish the governmental engagement and formal agreements necessary for any future recognition and use.

Current Status: In Development

The passport designs displayed are concept mockups. RAKU passports are not currently issued or recognized as international travel documents. Any future travel validity, visa arrangements, or diplomatic privileges would depend on applicable law and formal recognition by the relevant governments.

Membership questions

A clearer path to participation.

Who may seek membership?

The constitutional framework provides for legitimate African kingdoms and royal institutions represented by reigning Kings or Queens. Other royal and diaspora institutions may be considered in appropriate membership categories.

Does joining change a kingdom’s international legal status?

Membership establishes a relationship within RAKU’s institutional framework. It does not itself change a kingdom’s existing international legal status or establish recognition by other governments.

Does membership guarantee investment or trade privileges?

The Union seeks to develop cooperation and partnerships. Investment, free trade arrangements, customs privileges, and individual projects require separate agreements and are not guaranteed by accession.

How do we begin?

Download the accession agreement, review the Constitution, and prepare the kingdom particulars and credentials listed in the agreement. The document includes the approval and Secretariat registration sections required for admission.
